We decided to join the ARC Europe Rally for our crossing
of the Atlantic from the Caribbean in 2007. We participated along with about 25
other yachts in the cruising rally which departed Antigua on May 10 with stops
in Bermuda and the Azores before arriving in Lagos, Portugal in late June.
Our original plan was to participate in the rally as far as Bermuda before
deciding whether to continue on this year or next year. As it turned out,
we were several days into the second leg before we finally decided that the time
was right for our first ocean crossing. Once again, our boat treated us
very well in both good weather and bad, and to our relief, we had no major
problems or equipment failures. It was an experience of a lifetime, and
the fact that we shared it with other rally participants, made it even
better. Throughout the voyage, we posted daily logs and photos to the World
Cruising Club website. An archive of Gyatso's logs for each leg
are provided below as well as a photo gallery archive and daily positions as
reported to the ARC Europe website.
