In 2010, we started in Marmaris, Turkey, and sailed north along the west coast of Turkey to Istanbul, where we staged our voyage around the Black Sea. The entire sailing season was devoted to preparing for and completing a circumnavigation of the Black Sea, beginning in Marmaris where we did some additional maintenance and refitting projects for the conditions we anticipated in this relatively remote location, at least as far as amenities for cruising sailors goes.
